Install Probe Desktop

macOS

  1. Download and extract the ZIP.
  2. Move Probe.app to Applications, then open it.
First launch on macOS

Probe is currently distributed without Apple notarization, so macOS may show an unidentified developer warning on first launch. You can allow Probe from System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Windows

  1. Download and extract the ZIP.
  2. Run probe-desktop.exe from the extracted folder.
First launch on Windows

Probe is currently unsigned, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a warning on first launch. After verifying that Probe was downloaded from the official GitHub repository, choose More info → Run anyway.

Linux

  1. Download and extract the TAR.GZ.
  2. From the extracted folder, run:
chmod +x probe-desktop
./probe-desktop
Prefer an RPM?

Download the RPM for Fedora and install it with:

sudo dnf install ./probe-desktop-*-linux-x64.rpm

On openSUSE, use zypper install in place of dnf install.

From the extracted folder

Make probe executable and move it onto your PATH.

$ chmod +x probe
$ sudo mv probe /usr/local/bin/

Verify the installation

$ probe --version
